Mr. DiMatteo has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering, with a minor in economics, from the University of Arizona.  His thesis was in the control systems optimization, an area of research that also led to receiving US Patent 4,998,233.  He is also a licensed professional electrical engineer (Registration # 45683) in Arizona, a member of the American Solar Energy Society, a member of the International Associations of Engineers, and an affiliate of the Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy (AzRISE).

He also assists Professor Emeritus Rocco Fazzolari in delivering renewable energy engineering courses at the University of Arizona and is a member of the Pima Community College Technology Education Advisory Committee. Mr. DiMatteo is the qualifying party for Sunpower’s K-11 dual residential and commercial electrical contracting license and L-78 Commercial solar thermal contracting license.

In his spare time, Mr. DiMatteo is an enthusiastic father, assistant Scout master, sailplane pilot, sailor, golfer, and British car and motorcycle aficionado.
