(1) The explosion of solar contractors in Arizona includes many getting licenses with very questionable “experience” in the solar industry.  The quality of systems being installed is suffering accordingly and the number of incompetent and unethical solar companies is growing.  Utility company lists of solar contractors are of no value in determining the competence of a contractor.

(2) A history of a contracting company’s owners reincorporating is many times done to avoid warranty claims by customers and disciplinary actions by the AZ Registrar of Contractors.

(3) Let common sense be your guide.  Long term, everything is covered, no charge labor warranties have historically been offered by unethical companies who have no plans on honoring them.  Or by the countless new, well meaning entrants into the industry who will promise anything to “get the business” but will most likely end up part of the 80%+ of new trade related companies that do not survive 5 years.  SUNPOWER has done thousands of service calls, or replacements, for systems still under another company’s “warranty”.
